J+O x Mega Mega Projects Jewelry Trunkshow
Where: 49 Ossington Ave, Toronto
When: Thursday May 10, 2018; 12pm – 8pm
Champagne reception: 6pm – 8pm

The designers will present their latest collections alongside one-of-a-kind pieces and exclusive made-to-order designs. The lineup includes:

Bing Bang Jewelry

Merging modern minimalism with a dose of downtown edge, Bing Bang founder Anna Sheffield says her clients are “just the right amount of tough and sweet”. Her NYC-based jewelry line reflects that cool dichotomy with delicate chains outfitted with statement slogans like “Feminist” and “Nasty” in 14-karat gold vermeil. For those who are a little less overt with their political inklings, Anna’s sculptural Black Label collection draws inspiration from her studies in blacksmithing with artful texturing and hand-forged details.

Originally launched as a limited run for their friends only, Andres Gallardo and Marina Casal’s unique Andres Gallardo jewelry collection found instant success among international stylists, editors, and special clients for its playful yet polished approach to design. Each piece is handcrafted in collaboration with Spanish and Portuguese artisans using traditional production methods to produce quality artisanal designs with a bold, contemporary twist.

Ana Katarina

Inspired by her extensive humanitarian travel and her years spent as a war correspondent, Ana-Katarina’s eponymous fine jewelry collection is a reflection of her profound global experiences. “I keep a visual lexicon in my consciousness created from my background, history, travels, passions and experiences. When I design, this internal library opens to bring forth the inspirations for my jewelry,” says Ana-Katarina. Storied artisans – including a former Harry Winston master jeweler – meticulously craft her heirloom-worthy creations.

Bibi Van der Velden

A sculptor by profession and a jewelry designer by passion, Bibi Van Der Velden’s eponymous collection is lauded as “wearable works of art”. Bibi is renowned for her unexpected approach to design, taking materials out of their natural context for an element of surprise and intrigue. Her jewelry is thoughtfully crafted with precious stones, corals, pearls, and one-of-a-kind materials she collects throughout her travels.

J Luu

Designer Janet Huynh is a third-generation jeweler who left her career in corporate finance to fuel her passion of artistry and design. Merging the worlds of classic and contemporary, her LA-based jewelry brand J Luu features  treasure-forever pieces sculpted from solid 14 and 18-karat gold and embellished with genuine gemstones.

Nora Kogan

Designed with symbols of flora, fauna, and ancient talismans, Nora Kogan’s immaculately sculpted jewelry sparks a sense of magic and wonder. Each piece is crafted by master artisans in NYC using recycled fine metals and ethically sourced gems for a one-of-a-kind treasure that’s timeless yet unexpected.

Jewelry designer and SUEL founder Suejin Lee describes her collection as “playful yet sophisticated”. Created from 18-karat blackened or polished gold and embellished with genuine gemstones, the pieces sculpted in strong geometric shapes for a sophisticated take on modern minimalism.

The trunk show will also feature an exhibition from Alison Milne Gallery showcasing the works of Berlin-based artist and illustrator, Tina Berning.
