arielle de pinto fuses an organic aesthetic with rough-hewn carvings and elements of geometry to create her dynamic crocheted chain accessories. a fine arts graduate of montreal’s concordia university, arielle de pinto arrived at her unique metal weaving technique while studying textiles and print. while her academic pursuits were focused on paper and fabric, de pinto was intrigued by the texture of fine chain. Her fascination with this material led her to experiment and soon enough, she mastered the complex technique of crocheting her delicate metal threads into timeless pieces of jewelry. launching her namesake line upon her graduation in 2007, de pinto introduced chain crochet to the worlds of contemporary art and fashion. combining vintage elegance with modern sensibility and intuitive, self-taught jewelry techniques, de pinto’s signature aesthetic and unmistakable visual identity have garnered a dedicated international following. alongside her accessories, which range from crocheted chain and metal necklaces to brutalist, figurative cast rings to imaginative hair accessories stand de pinto’s art pieces, specifically expression- istic metal masks and painterly chain tapestries. de pinto’s art reveals a transparency in process and sense of authorship due to her honesty and humour. Both de pinto’s artworks and accessories place a central focus on working with transformative processes and unmediated realities. de pinto’s continual artistic exploration lies at the heart of her work. experimenting with styling and art direction in her highly conceptualized look book shoots, de pinto’s striking and frankly personal visuals project an unabashed intimacy, implicating and involving audiences. now approaching her 5th year of professional practice, de pinto’s work has appeared in such publications as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, and Dazed & Confused, among many others. Further- more, she has been featured in contemporary jewelry books and industry publications.
